Afterward : Modern public folder migration -> Office 365

How-do-you-do,
I take migrate public fodders to O365.
Problem that I take is with mail enabled public folders.
My mail period is from on prem to O365.
I accept deleted public folder mailboxes on premise.
Mail enabled Public folder "Mailbox" objects withal exist on premise and pointing to deleted Public folder mailbox.
Question is how to delete those object and not brake mail service-flow from on prem to Deject post enabled public folders ?
I was unable to find documentation, what to do after all public folders are migrated to O365. And you do non nee public folder mailboxes on perm?
Thank you.

@BorutMCP2000

Is your on-premises Exchange hybrid configured with O365?
Can messages sent to public folders in Exchange Online be delivered successfully?

The official document mentions that nosotros can remove public folder mailboxes from Substitution on-bounds environment. However, it doesn't mention that mail-enabled objects for public folder should exist deleted as well. For your reference: Remove public folder mailboxes from your Exchange on-premises environment.
If the post flow for public folders works well, we can go on those objects. It's non suggested to remove the mail-enabled public binder objects from AD directly for your hybrid environment.

Howdy,
If I run on premises Exchange Server Go-MailPublicFolder public folder is under : ContentMailbox : /Deleted Objects/***/DEL:c45566bc-2545-4678-f26c-38707e01c123

And when i send an electronic mail, you can also see in issue log, that object signal to deleted object…
I was thinking to set it to $null. Merely there is no documentation.

Mail service period is working.

I accept only few post public folder mailboxes that they ware not stamp with … ExternalEmailAddress : expf:**

I was thinking to disabled effected mail service enabled public fodders that accept issue and enabled it once more. Delete on premise object and and so run Sync-ModernMailPublicFolders.ps1.
Temporary I have add in O365 mail Public binder relay accost .mail.onmiclrosoft.com and set on premises public folder object ExternalEmailAddress to point to .mail.onmiclrosoft.com

Br,
Borut

Actually, I'g a little confused about your description. When we delete the public binder mailbox from on-bounds Substitution, we accept to mail-disable the public folder firstly. Then nosotros can delete the public folder, and delete the public binder mailbox. So it's strange that you lot deleted the pf mailbox, but the pf still exists. If I have misunderstood, please point out.

From your link "Use batch migration to migrate Exchange Server public folders to Commutation Online" , at that place is not written later on completing migration or any part of migration what to do with existing mail enabled public folders. In that location is merely i script "SetMailPublicFolderExternalAddress.ps1 " that stamps mail service on premise post enabled public folders with external e-mail…

So from offset…
Public folders and mail enabled public folders are on prem.
I accept drift them all to O365
Postal service for "post enabled public folders" is routed to O365.

What to do with Public binder mailboxes on prem after I have completed migration?
1. I have deleted all public binder mailboxes.
2. I did non touch "mail enabled public folders" , because if I delete them, mail catamenia will be cleaved.

Should I delete Advertizing objects "mail enabled public folders" and run aging "SetMailPublicFolderExternalAddress.ps1" or what. Currently all mail service enabled public folders are pointing to "DEL" public folder mailbox.

Did you migrate public folders co-ordinate to that official document?

Since emails to mail-enabled public folders are correctly routed to Exchange Online, please run the command to bespeak that the public folder migration is complete:

                                                          Gear up-OrganizationConfig -PublicFolderMailboxesMigrationComplete:$true -PublicFoldersEnabled Remote

And then you can try to delete one object and test the mail flow. If everything works well, you tin can delete others. Additionally, we would propose you lot make a fill-in before modifying Advertizement objects.

hullo LydiaZhou-MSFT,
1. Public binder migration is completed.
2. Mail catamenia for mail-enabled public folders is working from on prem to O365.
I need to decommission on prem public folder mailboxes :
1. If I delete them, mail service enabled public folder . ITS OBJECT IN AD will stay and mail menstruum for post enabled Public folders volition. Only that ad object had DEL value for public folder mailbox.
So what is proper decommission on prem public folder and mail enabled public folder that mailflow accost to Public folders will not be affected and will non point to DEL object.

Every bit I mentioned in a higher place, in full general, we have to postal service-disable the public folder, then we can delete the public folder, and delete the public folder mailbox. Otherwise, we will get this error:
45116-631.png

45030-630.png

How did you delete the public folder mailbox without removing the public folder?

Additionally, after you delete the on-bounds public folders, postal service routing should be to O365 direct.

Sorry for ignoring that we take to use Remove-Mailbox to delete the pf mailbox straight after migrating to O365. I test on my on-premises Exchange, it tin can be reproduced that msExchPublicFolderMailbox points to a deleted object:
47272-632.png

This should be normal. Based on my cognition, the added ExternalEmailAddress works for messages sent to pf in the queue. For new letters sent to pf later the migration, they should be delivered to Exchange Online directly according to MX tape. So the mail-enabled pf object won't affect new messages sent to the pf in O365, you can go out the mail-enabled object alone. You also can delete it if you lot brand sure no pf letters in the queue on on-premises Exchange.
